At SemSem, I have been spearheading new initiatives in AI and emerging technologies to grow the brand’s footprint within new sectors. My day-to-day consists of meeting with management to determine new objectives for the week, conducting market research and writing reports, as well as integrating new technologies into the website and social media.
Some of my notable projects with SemSem include: Creating an AI shopping assistant through third party applications on Shopify to converse and assist customers with shopping, overhauling the product filtering system to better showcase items using multisector consumer data trends, and creating a fully interactive and conversational customer profile for internal market research and growth exploration.
This chat features me talking to the bot and asking about potential directions to have the design team focus on. While it cannot create full designs and is limited, it is a quick and easy tool that the brand has been utilizing for early stage ideation. We have also been using it as a tool for testing marketing initiatives, as the bot isbased off of a compilation of many customers that have individually spent in the high five-low six figures.
This is an example of our Shopify bot responding to a customer. I prompted it to give me examples of dresses perfect for a New Years night out, and it responded with three dresses that fit the theme each in different ways. One key component that I made sure to integrate was cultural shopping habits, as modest clothing sales is a large part of SemSem’s revenue.
The “Date Night” collection is an example of a new filter option that I proposed as a part of a lengthy overhaul and classification process that the entire backlog of products have been going through. The Shopify store has been up and running for years, but the majority of them are not classified underneath any collections. The “Date Night” and “Modest” collections are the start of them, with more to come.
